Knowing God Personally

No matter where you are spiritually, we want you to know that Cru is a safe community for you. We are a group of people centered upon Jesus and His teachings and we are passionate about helping others hear and respond to those teachings. As a part of that, we want to be a safe space for anyone to come and join, no matter what they believe or think spiritually.

If you’re checking out this page because you’re interested in Christianity or the teachings of Jesus, we would like to help provide you with some good places to start.

1) Read through John’s Gospel in the Bible

If you’re interested in leaning what Christians think and what Jesus taught, there is no better place than the Bible. The Bible, however, is a huge document and it can be confusing as to where to start. John’s Gospel will be a great entry point for you. Below you’ll find a link to a video that explains more about what the Bible is, and below that you’ll find a link to an online version of the Bible starting with John’s Gospel. If you’d like a hardcover Bible, we would love to give you one for literally nothing. Just contact us or swing by the the Cru office in Blacksburg. The address is listed below.

2) Read about what it means to have a personal relationship with God

The article linked below will walk you through the core teaching and foundational truth of Christianity. We call it the Gospel. Now that you’ve read through John’s Gospel, read this article and look at some of the passages in the Bible it references. The truths claimed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ are big ones. If they are true they mean that our lives can never be the same as they were before we knew such truth. Wrestle with the message in the article and then move on to point #3.

3) Have a conversation with a Christian about these things

Life is never meant to be done alone. That is certainly the case when it comes to pondering some of life’s biggest questions and the answers that Christianity offers to them. Find a Christian in your life, or contact one of us to talk more about what you’ve been reading, learning, and considering.
